Seventy-five years of the same street corner, the same purpose.

Kingaroy Baptist Church was established on 31 December 1949, when a small group of families in a young peanut-farming town began meeting for worship and mutual support. The congregation formalised, built on Knight Street, and has met continuously ever since — through drought years, downturns, and the steady changes of a regional Queensland community.

Today we remain deliberately local. We are not a franchise or a branch of a larger organisation with a head office elsewhere: our members live in Kingaroy, Wondai, Nanango and the surrounding district, and the decisions about our building, our budget and our ministries are made here by our own church members.

We are a not-for-profit organisation. We hold no shares and pay no dividends. Our income comes from the voluntary offerings of our congregation and occasional community fundraising, and it is spent on the upkeep of our building, modest ministry costs, and direct assistance to people in need.

What we believe

We are a Baptist congregation and hold to historic Christian belief: the Bible as our authority for faith and practice; the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the heart of the good news; baptism as a step taken by personal choice rather than by inheritance; and the responsibility of every member to serve, give and decide together in the life of the church.

How we are governed

The church is led by a pastoral team accountable to an elected board of deacons, who in turn report to the members at a general meeting. Annual accounts are reviewed and presented to members, and we lodge our reporting with the ACNC each year as required of a registered charity. Volunteers working with children hold current Queensland Blue Cards.
